Brief Biographical Sketch

Lelia Orrell Elliston received a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts/Boston in the Environmental Biology program. In addition to her scientific work in India, Costa Rica and Massachusetts, she has worked for Massachusetts Audubon as the Regional Director for Greater Boston and the North Shore; Director of Resource Development at NOAH, an inner-city Social and Environmental Benefit Organization; and Executive Director of Land’s Sake, an environmental non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating community and environmental awareness through farming, forestry, and education. She has owned and operated an ecological landscape design, maintenance and consulting business. She is a board member of numerous non-profits that work toward both social and environmental benefit. Lelia also lives on a small organic wholesale cut flower farm, and continues to consult on sustainable land use for private land owners.
